My Right Arm! 10
I started watching with no prior knowledge and had no idea what was going on!! I researched a bit and found out this is based on a fighting anime. I think it’s been a while since we’ve seen an anime adaptation of a fighting game! This reminds me that I haven’t been to an arcade in a while! The main character seems to be a bit of a tsundere, and to the fujyoshi he will have a lot of appeal as an uke character…and the younger brother character is a slightly troubled seme…wait, I’m not a fujyoshi or a BL fan. Really! I laughed at the previews with the main character’s arm…
Guilty Gear? 8
The anime adaptation of a popular fighting game. I had thought that the music and characters were similar to Guilty Gear, but it seems like the development staff are the same for both games. There are too many new words and plot points in the first episode, so it’s a bit hard to follow. It seems like they won’t really explain it all later on anyway so if you want to watch this, knowledge of the game is a must. The target audience seems to be fans of the game, rather than introducing the game to new people.

I knew the characters! 10
There were lots of characters that I recognized from cosplayers at game/anime conventions, and now I know what game they are from! Even though the main character dies at the beginning, the first episode doesn’t reveal much of the story. The anime needs something more, maybe it would be fun if the battle scenes were done using the game graphics?
This first episode feels like the climactic final battle already. I haven’t played the game, but the story seems like it involves a looped timeline? I got that the main character’s right arm contains some secret, which is a classic chuunibyou setting. There is not much explanation of the setting in the first episode, but certain plot points and the action were well done and that should be enough. As fitting for a fighting game adaptation, there was the proper amount of fighting. If there are more and more fighting scenes later on, I might try out the game!
I’m an anime otaku gangster hiding in the dark and damp corners of the industry and doing my thing!
From old to new, I’m watching all kinds of anime. Robot, special powers, love, slice-of-life, I will eat anything! My favorites are “Saint Seiya,” “Penguindrum,” and “Pani Poni dash!”
